About

Get to know me, my journey, and what I do

Hello there, my name is Patricija — a cell of the Earth and a ray of light of the Creator of All.

This is how I perceive myself beyond the first layers of my human identity. It is also the philosophical ground I stand on: that my life in this human form is an act of service — service to the Earth, the living and evolving organism of which I am a part, and service to the Creator of All to whom my most actual essence belongs.

With Mercury as my Atmakaraka (self or soul indicator), placed exactly on the degree of my Lagna (ascendant), I often feel called to walk the middle path — like a neutron bridging protons and electrons in any given circumstance. I naturally perceive multiple perspectives at once and remain open to discovering even more.

Most often, these perspectives unfold through other people. I love listening deeply to their experiences, insights, and stories. In conversation, I tend to listen more than I speak — asking questions, observing, learning. I have been this way since childhood: quieter, attentive, gathering, curiously inquiring. Curiosity feels like my greatest gift and my way of participating in the world.

If I return to the image of myself as a cell within the larger body of the Earth, then I recognize myself specifically as a dendrite — a receptive extension of a neuron whose role is to connect, to receive signals, and to allow communication to flow between different points of the greater organism. In this way, I see my presence and my work as relational: creating bridges between perspectives, between inner and outer worlds, between the human experience and the light of the Creator of All.

To me, every encounter becomes a quiet exchange of light — one ray meeting another.
It is perhaps natural, then, that Jyotish (Vedic astrology) found me. A language that listens to the sky, that traces connections between celestial movement and human experience, that seeks meaning through patterns and relationships — it speaks directly to the way I perceive the world. Studying and practicing Jyotish feels less like acquiring a skill and more like remembering something innate: a way of observing, connecting, and translating the dialogue between Earth and cosmos.

In this sense, my work as a Jyotishi (astrologer) is simply an extension of my nature — another way of serving as a bridge.

My journey with Jyotish-Vedic Astrology began in 2020, one year after high school, when I felt utterly lost and desperate about the direction my life was taking. I was deeply engaged in inner work — attending therapy, meditating daily, reading psychological and philosophical literature, and exploring breathwork and plant medicine. Yet despite all of this, the confusion, inner struggle, and sense of directionlessness remained.

One day, I suddenly remembered an acquaintance who practiced Jyotish-Vedic Astrology. Something quietly clicked. I reached out and booked a session, which turned out to be exactly what I needed.

During that consultation, my understanding of myself and my life expanded profoundly. I learned that I was not existing in a self-made vacuum, but within a far greater cosmological context. From this perspective, the astrologer explained that my struggles were neither random nor problematic. Instead, I was moving through an intentional period of pressure shaped by my Rahu (North Node) Mahadasha (planetary period) and the transit of Ketu (South Node) and Saturn through my Lagna (ascendant). This combination was described as a force of dissolution and renewal — a symbolic death and rebirth — through which false layers were stripped away, allowing a more authentic self to emerge.

What supported me deeply was not only the meaning given to the experience, but also the sense of timing. I was offered a broader temporal context, including when this pressure would gradually ease. This brought a new level of acceptance, endurance, and trust in the unfolding process.

When I left the session, I felt profoundly lighter — lighter in spirit, and lighter as if I had gained light itself. This is where the word Jyotish becomes essential. Jyotish is the original Sanskrit name for what is now commonly called Vedic Astrology, and it derives from jyoti, meaning “light.”

From one perspective, Jyotish is the study of celestial phenomena that sheds light on what has not yet been seen, offering clarity and orientation — much like stars illuminating the night. From another perspective, Jyotish is the study of Consciousness itself as Light, examining how awareness moves through, identifies with, and becomes entangled in experience across Space and Time. (In my practice, I work with both dimensions of Jyotish. I use it to understand and illuminate Consciousness through the mutual reflection between celestial patterns and lived and perceived experiences.)

Once I opened my eyes to the profundity of Jyotish, I could no longer relate to it only as a client. It began to call me into study.

In the year following that consultation, I explored both Western and Indian astrology through articles, books, and the work of practicing astrologers. The exploration was exciting and expansive, opening deeper layers of astrological understanding. Yet over time, I felt an inner need for something more structured, grounded, and rigorous.

Soon after this feeling emerged, I discovered the apprenticeship program at Asheville Vedic Astrology, taught by Ryan Kurczak and curated by Fiona Marques. The program is designed to build a solid foundation in the theory and application of Vedic Astrology and offers a professional certification pathway. Once again, something quietly clicked. I felt guided. Trusting that inner orientation, I began the apprenticeship a few months later.

Studying under Ryan Kurczak elevated my learning to a new level. Week by week, I was laying the foundations of my practice, placing block upon block. These included the study of rashis (zodiac signs), bhavas (houses), grahas (planets), Shadbala, lajjitadi avasthas, yogas, Vargas, the Rahu–Ketu axis, cycles, and timing techniques such as Vimshottari Dasha, Caranavamsa, and Transits. Each layer arrived at the right moment, bringing increasing stability, coherence, and clarity.

At the same time, I was witnessing myself grow and mature alongside the material. The program required sustained commitment through examinations, written papers, recorded presentations, and forty-two donation-based readings. The ascent through the apprenticeship was real — it challenged my discipline, my time management, and my determination to follow the path through to completion.

This journey began in January 2022 and concluded in January 2026, marking four years of deep study, integration, and personal maturation. I feel profound gratitude for my teacher, Ryan Kurczak, whose clarity and depth laid a firm foundation for my practice, and for Fiona Marques, whose gentle, supportive, and perceptive presence guided the process.

As with all cycles, an ending is also a beginning. Having completed this stage of training, I feel increasingly certain that working as a Jyotishi is my highest dharma. I now continue my studies with humility and dedication, knowing that this path of learning and refinement is ongoing.

As mentioned before, I work with both dimensions of Jyotish: observing the reflection of celestial movements in lived experience to bring clarity and orientation, and using Jyotish as a tool for inquiring into Consciousness itself — the Light that experiences life.

By holding both levels together, I seek to better understand the human experience on Earth and share that understanding with others. This intention forms the ground of all my work.

My training through the Apprenticeship Program of Asheville Vedic Astrology was rooted in classical texts such as Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, Jaimini Sutras, and Yavanajataka. I continue to study and reference these sources in my practice, striving to remain authentic and respectful of the tradition.

When preparing for a session, I often spend up to twelve hours analysing, researching, and contemplating the client’s birth chart. If the chart calls for more depth, I give it more time. My process is structured and methodical, allowing each layer to unfold gradually until the core themes become clear. This foundation brings confidence and clarity — both for me and for the person I am guiding.

During the session itself, I share the information in a cohesive, digestible way, checking in often to ensure it feels understandable and resonant. Creating a safe and caring space is very important to me. I want each person to feel seen, supported, and gently guided — not only informed, but held.

At its heart, my work with Jyotish is an offering—a way to bring clarity, care, and light to those navigating their path.
